_{they’ve known each other for 27 years.  minerva saw the lonely boy become a powerful  ( but still very much lonely ) wizard.  she probably noticed how he would never spend the holidays at home.  she probably noticed the fire in his eyes started to go out as he lost his way.  we know she came to respect him greatly, given the fact that she would come to him whenever she needed some sort of consultation.  i like to think she’s the one that grew closest to sev in the hogwarts staff due to the compatibility of their personalities and despite the inevitable rivalry between the heads of gryffindor and slytherin.}
